Our 28 acre ranch is nestled in the foothills of Santa Cruz County surrounded by healthy organic fields and cooled by the natural air-conditioning from ocean breezes off Monterey Bay. Our cage free barns have open air ventilation providing fresh air and natural sunlight.
Our birds have the opportunity to roam free with 24 hour a day access to feed (vegetarian with no hormones, antibiotics or animal by-products) and water and to features including perches, community nest boxes and above standard depth of shavings and sawdust for dust bathing and scratching.
Glaum Egg Ranch facilities and products are personally inspected and certified by organizations ensuring consumers get a top quality product produced by humane, sustainable, environmentally sounds family farming practices protecting the health and welfare of our chickens.
The Certified Humane Raised and Handled® label assures consumers:
- That the producer meets our standards and applies them to animals from day one of age.
- Animals have ample space, shelter and gentle handling to limit stress.
- Ample fresh water and a healthy diet of quality feed, without added antibiotics or hormones.
- Cages, crates and tie stalls are among the forbidden practices, and animals must be free to do what comes naturally. For example, chickens are able to flap their wings and dust bathe.
- Producers must comply with food safety and environmental regulations.
